Adeyinka Makinde trained for the law. He is a contributor to various websites on topics such as global security, history, politics and boxing. He has an academic research interest in intelligence & security matters. His articles and book reviews have been published by a number of academic journals and news journals. He is the author of two books on pugilists: Dick Tiger: The Life and Times of a Boxing Immortal, (Word Association, 2005), and Jersey Boy: The Life and Mob Slaying of Frankie DePaula, (iUniverse 2010). He is also a contributor to the Cambridge Companion to Boxing, published in 2019 by Cambridge University Press, in which he wrote the following chapters: "The Africans: Boxing and Africa" and "Jose Torres: The Boxer as Writer".
